AWS Impact Accelerator

AWS Impact Accelerator is a specialized initiative by Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion within the startup ecosystem. Its core mission is to support high-potential startups led by underrepresented founders, specifically focusing on Black, Women, LGBTQIA+, and Latino communities. It operates as an accelerator program, providing resources beyond just capital to help these companies thrive.

Each participating startup receives a significant package designed to accelerate their growth. This includes a non-dilutive $125,000 cash grant, substantial AWS credits, tailored mentorship from AWS experts and industry leaders, and comprehensive training modules. The program is structured into distinct cohorts, with each dedicated to a specific underrepresented group, ensuring targeted support and community building. This holistic approach aims to address the unique challenges faced by these founders, helping them scale their businesses effectively on AWS infrastructure.

Since its inception, the AWS Impact Accelerator has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting a substantial number of startups. For instance, the inaugural Black Founders program commenced in June 2022, followed by the Women Founders program in September 2022. By late 2023, the accelerator had successfully supported a total of 100 startups across its four distinct founder-focused programs, with each cohort comprising 25 companies. This initiative underscores AWS's broader commitment to fostering innovation and equitable opportunities in the tech startup landscape.
