TechRise Chicago

TechRise Chicago operates as a multi-stakeholder initiative dedicated to fostering the growth of Black and Latinx tech founders within the Chicago ecosystem. Led by World Business Chicago in collaboration with the City of Chicago, P33, and 1871, TechRise serves as a critical bridge, providing founders with essential access to capital, mentorship, and a robust network of resources.

The initiative's direct financial support primarily comes in the form of grants. In its inaugural year, TechRise Chicago successfully supported 10 Black and Latinx tech founders, with each participant receiving a $10,000 grant. Beyond these direct grants, a core component of TechRise's strategy involves facilitating connections between founders and various other capital sources, including venture capital firms and angel investors, alongside offering pitch coaching to enhance their fundraising capabilities.

TechRise Chicago is not structured as a traditional venture capital fund but rather as a programmatic effort to address systemic disparities in tech funding. Its long-term vision is ambitious, aiming to support a total of 100 founders over the next five years. By combining direct financial assistance with comprehensive mentorship and strategic introductions, TechRise plays a vital role in cultivating a more inclusive and equitable tech landscape in Chicago, empowering underrepresented entrepreneurs to scale their ventures.
